Sockburn School MLE PLG
Term 4, 2015
Sockburn School Map
Well we've been a little quiet lately, but the MLE PLG for Canterbury is moving forward. The awesome Sockburn School in Hornby is the venue for our Term 4 visit. The teachers in the Junior Area of the school are excited to be able to share their learning journey with you. They are running a collaborative space in a modified older building. In exciting news for them, they are also in the early stages of planning for their school to relocate to a brand new site in the Wigram Skies subdivision. Come along and hear about where they've come from, what is working for them in their innovative learning environment and where they are headed!
The PLG will be held on Thursday 19 November at 3:45 pm. We will meet in the school hall to begin with, then tour the Sockburn spaces. Please register your attendance.
Registrations for this event are now closed! We look forward to seeing you all there on Thursday.

2014 Term 1 PLG @ Clarkville
Welcome to 2014. We hope that 2014 has started well and that Modern Learning Practices are flourishing in your school!
This term our PLG will be held on Monday 14th April at 3:45pm.
We will be visiting Clarkville Primary School (10 Heywards Road, RD2, Clarkville) where Principal Pene Abbie and her team of teachers and students will share with us the MLP they are implementing and changes they have made to their programme at Clarkville.
Clarkville is not a new school. They use existing buildings in innovative ways to provide great teaching and learning spaces for their students and staff. During this PLG there will be an opportunity to hear about the innovative teaching and learning that is happening at Clarkville, and the changes they have made to how they are using their spaces to incorporate MLPs.
We will also have a tour of the school and learn how teachers are working collaboratively to teach in their learning environments to best meet the needs of their students.
Please click on the register tab above so that we can best set up the spaces to accommodate our visitors.
We look forward to seeing you there!

Term 4 PLG - Breens Intermediate
The Term 4 PLG was held on November 4th at Breens Intermediate School in Casebrook. A huge thank you to Brian Price and his team of teachers for hosting us.
Staff from Breens have been on a exciting journey over the last several years. Their school's values underpin their teaching and learning programmes, appraisal systems and are key drivers in the culture of the school.
They have modified their 1970's school buildings to provide transparency, deprivatised practice and to support their collaborative learning environments.
Participants in the PLG had the opportunity to hear Brian speak about the school's pedagogical development over the last six years. They then visited the three main learning pods, where staff shared their innovations, challenges and successes.
